This third stage, 356 km long, was perfectly managed by Eric Vigouroux and Alex Winocq. Marking the fourth best time of the day, the Trophy Truck climbed four places on the general rank at the same time!
“We approached this special with the will to never stop and roll properly to avoid flat tires. I was really into do a good piloting job, and on the other side, Alex had solved his Tripmaster problem and he was very precise on the notes. We didn´t get lost, and we didn´t have any incidents,” told Eric at the finish line, located at 500 meters from the bivouac of Ras El Oued. “It was a stage without faults, and the adopted a rhythm that allowed us to arrive on the fourth position, behind three factory cars. We could not do better than that on this ground.”
On the general classification, our Trophy Truck n°300 is from now fourth, behind BMW X3 DC of the Argentinian Terranova and the Russian Novitskiy, followed-up by the Mitsubishi Pajero MPR13 of Misslin. “To occupy this position after three stages, it is excellent. Another important fact is that we bring the car in a very good shape until now. Professional teams have many mechanics to work hard on their cars every evening until they are like new again, and we only have a small team of three mechanics,” said Eric.
Tomorrow stage, of Saturday 25th, between Ras El Oued and Darj, will start by timed sector of 288 km, disputed very early in the morning. In the menu, we will find sinuous tracks, some sand and the first off-road sections. Then, competitors will cross the Libyan border, followed by a very long connection towards the bivouac of Darj. There, we will finally arrive finally to a large field of dunes…
